Richard David LaFrance, known to friends and family as "Rick, Dad, Grandpa," was born on July 12, 1963, in Victoria, BC. He passed away on January 25, 2025, at the MacKenzie Place Extended Care Unit in Grande Prairie, AB after a long battle with Huntington’s Disease.
Rick grew up in Edmonton, where he attended Archbishop McDonald High School and St. Joseph High School.
Rick had a career as a gas fitter at Atco Gas, where he worked in Hinton for 20 years.
Rick is survived by his loving spouse, Mary Lou, and their 3 sons, David (Janique) and children Kora and William. Denis (Teresa) and children Brianna, Ashleigh, Carson, and Andre. Michael (Louise) and children Mira, Revan, Eillie, Eva, and Hailey. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of the Foothills, in Hinton, on February 5th, at 2:00 pm, with a viewing first starting at 1:00pm.
Following the Mass, a burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery. A reception will be held at Our Lady of the Foothills following the Mass.
Rick’s legacy of kindness, faith, and dedication to family and friends will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
