Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and simply our Petro, left us at the age of 67 on September 11, 2025, to be with the Lord.
Petro was born on October 26, 1957, in the village of Sudche, Volyn region, Ukraine, to Hanna and Matthew Panasyuk. He spent most of his life in Ukraine, which he dearly loved, and in 2015 he moved to Hinton, Alberta, to start a new chapter in Canada.
In Ukraine he went to school, got his first driver’s license, served in the army, and studied at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn State University. In 1983 he began teaching history and later became the principal of Morozovychi School. Around the same time, he met his beloved wife Tetyana, and they married in August 1984.
Family was everything to Petro. He was endlessly proud of his two sons, Vadym in Hinton and Ivan in Ukraine, his daughters-in-law Ira and Mariia, and his four grandchildren: Zlata, Denys, Matthew, and Makayla. His love also reached out to his brothers Volodymyr and Michael and their families, as well as to his sister-in-law Ruslana, her husband Sergiy, and their children Alina and Marta.
Petro loved history and shared his knowledge with many children during his career as a teacher. He also loved people — in Canada he found new friends who always made him feel welcome and appreciated.
He had many plans and dreams, some of which will remain unfinished, but we will continue to honor his memory and carry them forward.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM, at the Our Lady of the Foothills Catholic Parish in Hinton, Alberta, Master of Ceremony -Father Cornell Zebritsky.
Petro, we love you and miss you deeply. Rest in peace.
