Forever In Our Hearts
Normande Tannas
1952~2018
Normande Tannas passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on November 13, 2018 following a brief battle with cancer.
She was born on March 8, 1952 in Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande, Quebec. She was the second youngest of 16 siblings. She moved to St. Paul when she was 2, where she grew up and raised her family.
Normande was predeceased by her parents Fernando & Elise; brothers Yvan, Claude, Noel, Conrad, Paul-Emile and Jean-Roche.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Rod; daughter Kerri (Troy) and their children Austin & Shawn; daughter Andrea (Matt) and their children Devon & Tanner; brothers Roger (Patricia), Marc, Viateur (Jeanette); sisters Dolores (Dominique), Eveline (Rod), Noelline (Art), Charlotte (Nick), Marie-Marthe, Suzanne (Bob) and Therese; in-laws Debbie (Brian), Carol, Shirley (Don), Leonard (Marguerite), Cliff (Debbie) and Leslie; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews, cousins and friends.
Normande was known for her energy, creative talent, beautiful smile, out-going nature and most of all… her love for her 4 grandsons. Over the years, her talent and enthusiasm was used to enrich the lives of the elderly, those with dementia and their families during her 25 years as an Occupational Therapist at the St. Paul Extendicare. Her sewing and cake-making skills were adored by many and she was also well known for her sense of style and looking fabulous. She loved to “beautify Alberta one house at a time” as she and Rod built or renovated over 20 homes of their own and several more with their daughters. The job she loved the most was being a fulltime Meme to her grandsons and watching all their sports and activities.
The family wishes to express their tremendous gratitude to Marilyn Oishi for the extra special care given to ensure Normande fought this battle as hard as she could followed by ensuring her comfort during her final weeks. Also, to Dr. Lindie Verster and the staff of the Edson Healthcare Centre for the wonderful care provided.
Memorial Contributions in loving memory of Normande may be made to the Edson Run of Hope (http://runofhope.ca) or the Alberta Cancer Foundation (710 10123-99th Street NW Edmonton, AB T5J 3H1)
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 25, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Stony Plain Heritage Park Facility in the ‘Spruce Grove Hall.’ (5100 41 Ave Stony Plain, AB)
