Norma was born to Irvin Hackett and Stella Suddard on July 28, 1929, in Gaspe, Quebec. As a child she enjoyed her friends, family, school and every summer on the beach. Norma left home at 16 with 2 friends and moved to Montreal, Quebec, then on to Cambridge, Ontario. The three of them worked in housekeeping at a hospital until one day a head nurse asked them if they wanted to take a nursing course. They did their schooling, worked long hours almost every day, for room and board and very little pay. Norma's work ethics paid off then, and in her jobs that followed.
In 1978, Norma moved to Edson, Alberta, from Gaspe, Quebec, and shortly after started working at the Edson hospital as a Registered Nurse. In 1980 the new Nursing Home opened, and she then started working as the Supervisor. Norma felt blessed with the opportunities Edson offered her and lifelong friends she acquired along the way.
A Funeral Service will be held on April 29th, 2022 at 2pm at St. Catherine’s Anglican Church.
Fellowship to follow at the Pioneer cabin.
In lieu of floral tributes, donations can be made to the St. Catherine’s Anglican Church, Edson, Alberta.
