Neil David Gering

The family is sad to announce the passing of Neil David Gering, on January 13, 2025, at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.

At the age of 59 years, Neil put up a brave battle against a recurrence of pneumonia, however, it finally won out.

He was predeceased by his father Alexander (Alex) Gering in 2016, his mother Josephina (Josie) Gering in 2022, as well as a number of others on the Gering and Aschenmeier sides.

Neil’ s main loves were his family, the staff and residents at the Ermineskin Group Home, and food. Other activities Neil enjoyed were bowling, hockey, magazines, and playing with his cards.

He is survived by his two brothers, Darryl (Heather) and Robin (Brenda) and their children; Sheena, Sean, Kyle, Matt, and Carley. He is also survived by his aunts, Emilie Joy, Marlene Schmidek and Barb Aschenmeier, and 26 cousins.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at the Edson Legion at 1:30PM on Friday, January 31, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Good Samaritan Society of Edmonton may be offered in Neil's memory.
