It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Murray Leroy Holcomb on February 28, 2022, at the age of 92 in Edson, Alberta.
Born on September 11, 1929, to the late Ross and Alice Holcomb in Humberstone Twp. Welland, Ontario. Murray was predeceased by his loving wife, Betty Olive Holcomb and siblings Norma Horton, Jean Steele, Clyde Holcomb, Marion Hannigan and Marjorie Lukacsy.
Murray and Betty were married September 20, 1952, in Welland, Ontario. They lived in Ontario, and he worked for Esso, delivering gasoline, until 1975 when they moved to Grande Cache with their two children. Murray worked for the Town of Grande Cache until his retirement. In 1995, Murray and Betty moved to Edson where they lived for about twenty years in Poplar Place. When you heard Murray and Betty were taking a holiday, you could almost guarantee it was to visit Mickey and Minnie at Disneyland. They went over twenty times, even well into their 80's. A hip replacement, a heart attack, a couple of small strokes and arthritis in his knee from an old hockey injury slowed Murray down in the last few years. But of all the things Murray will be remembered for, his ministry work is at the top of the list. Murray was baptised in the spring of 1955 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. From that time on, he faithfully shared his Bible based hope in God's Kingdom.
Murray will be missed by all who knew and loved him, but we are comforted by knowing that he is resting peacefully in Jehovah's memory, awaiting a resurrection.
Murray was survived by his sister, Helen Hissem, of Welland, Ontario; his son, Douglas Holcomb (Bonnie) and their three children, Shannon Holcomb, Jordon Holcomb (Karly) and Jaret Holcomb (Paige); and his Daughter, Barbara Smith (Brian) and their children Michael Holcomb (Christiane), Benjamin Goransrud (Jessica) and Lori-Lynn Gullason; his great grandchildren, Nash, Freya, Ameera, Max, Jay, Amelia, Jackson, Leyna, and Maverick; and extended family, Monte (Kirsten), Jesse (Kelly), Cole, Cooper, Brayden, Oliver, and Payton. As well as numerous Nephews and Nieces.
For all who wish to attend, an online memorial of Murray’s life will be held Saturday March 26th.
