Muriel Sembal Obituary

The beautiful Muriel Jean Sembal passed away peacefully on September 10, 2022, at age 94.5, after a brief stay at the Edson hospital.

Muriel was born in Edmonton on February 10, 1928. She lived a resourceful and adventurous life with her beloved husband, Bill Sembal. This included adventures such as being a telephone switch board operator, living abroad with the Air Force, x-country skiing around her property, assisting her husband to build a small aeroplane, being a girl guide leader, drawing and painting, and motor-homing frequently with family through local mountains and to Arizona. She was a lover of trees and birds and could make out an animal on any piece of driftwood. She was an active member of TOPS and the Eastern Star, loved dressing up for Halloween, eating chocolate liquors, and a bit of gambling at the Lodge. She hosted memorable holiday meals on the ping-pong table. She also devoted herself to her two loving children: Shirley and Ron Sembal, as well as her grandkids. Muriel had a memory like no other that I know, and a gift to chat easily with those that she was close to. She has been referred to as a true lady and we will all miss her dearly.

In her final years, Muriel had a lot of fun and special moments with her friends at the Edson Parkland Lodge and was always grateful for the genuine care that she felt from all of the staff.

Muriel was predeceased by her sister, Pearl Clarke, and by her husband and two children. She is survived by her two grandchildren; Andrea Anscombe with husband Phil, and Cody Weston with wife Jade, as well as by her three great-grandchildren; Kylie and Jordan Anscombe and Asher Weston. Also, by several special nieces and nephews across Canada.

Muriel has been cremated according to her wishes and her ashes will be spread near the rest of her family in the summer of 2023. For more information, please contact Andrea at 250-792-1456.

A few words that I will always remember hearing her say: "This too shall pass”, and 'l It's important to be good to one another".
