Miroslaw Paschak Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Miroslaw Paschak born February 18th, 1935, in Wolf Creek, Alberta.  Most people knew him as Casper. One of his classmates had named him Casper and the name stuck with him throughout his whole life.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife Geraldine, brother Pete (Freeda), sisters, Ollie, Carolyn (Paul), Irene (Leon), numerous nieces and nephews and friends as well as the Ice’s, his adopted family. Miroslaw was predeceased by his parents, Dmitro and Maria Paschak, brothers Bill and Fred, sister Mildred, brothers-in-law Bill, Vic, Russ and sister-in-law Margaret, and nephew Teddy.

Miroslaw was born and raised in the Drostan district and took all his schooling there in a one room schoolhouse.

Miroslaw loved fishing. Living beside the river, he would go every chance he could until he got his first car and then he fished the streams wherever he could find one. As a young boy, he would also trap and hunt with his brothers.

When Miroslaw finished school, he went to work for his dad at his lumber camp first as a labourer and then a chainsaw operator. He later went to work in the pipelines, starting in Drayton Valley and working various places in Alberta and then down east in Ontario.

Miroslaw was always willing to lend a hand in whatever anyone was doing. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was working, fishing or just going for a walk. Every summer, Miroslaw would scout out the berry patches for his family. Everyone looked forward to the times spent in the berry patch with family and friends and were successful in fulfilling their berry quota.

Miroslaw married Geraldine October 10th, 1992. They spent many hours fishing by the streams. His family and friends enjoyed many fresh fish dinners that he had caught as well as smoked whitefish. They loved to dance and attend church and would attend all the jamborees until Geraldine’s health declined and she preferred to stay at home. She encouraged Miroslaw to keep dancing which he did.

His quiet nature and gentle smile will be forever missed by so many of us.

At Miroslaw’s request there will be no funeral.
