Mike was born in Pioneer, AB, at home, with a midwife. He left home at an early age to pursue a career in mechanics. He received his license in 1957 and was employed at Linden Motor, later at Edson Motors. In 1957 he went to work for Alberta Forest Services, doing road maintenance and construction. In 1967 he took a job with Alberta transportation where he worked until retirement in 1990.
Mike met Pat in 1984. Some of the pastimes he enjoyed were farming, trail riding, snowmobiling and camping with friends. Mike was also very active with the Rodeo Association and Gymkana Club for many years.
He will be forever remembered and cherished by Pat, the love of his life for 38 years, children Donna (Rob) Brown, Barb (Gerry) Mellersh, his four grandchildren Cory, Britney, Michael and Joleen and their mother Janet, as well as two very special great grandsons, Decland and Briar Polak as well as their mother Laura-Lee, brother Bill, brother -in- law Bob Charlebois, nephews Ken and Robbie Charlebois.
Mike was predeceased by his sister Ann (Bob), son Ron and sister-in-law Dianne (Bill).
A big thank you goes to Dr. Gous and Dr. Smith and staff of the Edson Hospital and Continuing Care.
Special Thanks to Bev Russell for the handcrafted casket.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Edson Legion on September 5, 2023, at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at the Glenwood Cemetery.
