Michel Gaudreau Obituary

It is with great sadness, the family of Michel Gaudreau’s announce his passing on May 29th, 2022. Our brother and uncle passed away peacefully at the age of 71 at the Hinton Hospital. It was unexpectedly quick, but thankfully he was surrounded by loved ones in his last days.
Michel was born in Champneuf, Quebec on April 9th, 1951, to Omer Gaudreau and Yvette Proulx and grew up in many places in Quebec with his brothers Jean-Claude, Robert, and Omer as well as his sisters Yvette, Claudette and Vivianne. Michel always did what he wanted and was remembered in this manner by all his siblings and family members. His mom remarried in 1967 to Gerard Proulx and their union brought an unexpected surprise to the family in the same year, a little sister was born, Irene Proulx. He adopted his stepfather Gerard as his own father after losing his birth father in his early teens.
Michel lived in Quebec until he came to join his mother, father, and little sister in Alberta in the early 1980’s.  He worked various jobs until he joined the Laborer’s Union where he worked in various places in Alberta in the pipeline industries until he retired in 2010.
Michel was family oriented and was always there to help the family whenever they needed something.  He became very close to his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed spending time with all of them.
Michel is survived by his sisters Yvette (Raymond) of Val D’Or, Quebec, Claudette (Bernard) of Blainville, Quebec, Irene (Douglas) of Hinton, Alberta, and brother Omer (Carole) of Charlemagne, Quebec. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews (too many to mention).
Michel is predeceased by his father Omer (1965), Mother Yvette (2011), Father Gerard (2010), Brothers Jean-Claude (2009), Robert (2009), and Sister Vivianne (1981).

Rest in peace Michel, you will live on in our memories and we will miss you dearly.

Thank you to Dr. Sorenson, and the dedicated nurses at Hinton General Hospital, for the care and compassion our brother and uncle received during his time there.

Interment will be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Hinton with the immediate family in attendance.
