Megan Marie (Allen) McKay

With profound sadness, the family announces the passing of Megan Rosseel at the age of 41 years. She journeyed into eternal peace on the evening of June 6, 2026.

As she was in life, Megan will be watching over her four beloved children: Ariana (Blue), James (Darta), Alexis, and Caleb.

She will be missed by her mother Shona Allen Topott, her father Steven Allen and stepmother Laura, her Aunty Karie (Sean) Lazarewich, uncle Marcel (Lorrane) Topott, Bruce (Lori) Topott, aunts Sandy Allen, Rose (David) Allen, uncles Larry (Natalie) Allen, Billy (Christina) Allen, Richard (Heather)Allen and many cousins to cherish her memories.

Megan will be reunited with her grandfather Douglas Allen, grandfather Richard Topott, and grandmother Simone Topott.

Megan was born October 12, 1984, to Shona Topott Allen and Steve Allen in Hinton, Alberta. Megan spent all of her life living in Hinton, attending St Gregory Elementary School and graduating from Father Gerard Redmond Community Catholic School in 2002. It was in school where she met her first husband Andrew McKay, they had 2 children, Ariana and James. They later parted ways and Megan married Ian Rosseel with whom she had 2 more kids, Alexis and Caleb. Megan was a very proud and devoted mother. Her kids meant the world to her. She was very actively involved in all of their extracurricular activities, school, volunteering and became the president of the PAC at Gerard Redmond for many years.

Megan once dreamed of becoming a teacher, and in her own way, she fulfilled that dream through her actions. She taught generosity by giving freely of her time. She taught the community by showing up – always there, always trying. She always volunteered at her children’s school, served on Parent Council until the very end, and supported the community groups that meant the most to her children. She was often the first to jump in and help other parents - driving kids, feeding them with those great snacks, and being available to help whenever she could. Megan claimed more than a few “bonus kiddos” along the way. Over the past five years, Megan faced more medical challenges than most could imagine. Yet she never gave up. She showed strength in the face of uncertainty, determination in the face of pain, and unwavering love for her children in every moment she was given.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Hinton’s EMTs, Firefighters, and the R.C.M.P for their care, compassion, and support.

Megan will be deeply missed, and her love will continue to live on within her children and everyone whose life she touched.
