Mary Christina (Hansen) Joy

Joy, Mary Christina Hansen (Chris), passed away with love around her March 20, 2024, at the Edson Health Care Centre. 

Chris was born September 9, 1937, in Viking, Alberta, to parents Lars and Serena Hansen.

Chris was predeceased by her parents, husband Nicholas Joy (SR)(2015), her son Nicolas Joy (JR) (2001), her son Robert Joy (2007), her grandson Kyle Joy (2011) her brothers Ed Hansen (2020) and Raymond Hansen (2024).

Chris was survived by her best friend Tina Hansen, her son Wayne Joy of Edson (his son Nicholas), Her daughter Leighia Lubarsky of Whitecourt, along with her husband Jason and sons Tyver (Abi) and Garret Lubarsky. Disunited, her daughters Brenda Petersen and Debra (Roger) Kanngiesser. Also left to mourn, her loved sisters Millie, Dorthea, Cathy and Bev, grandchildren, nephews, nieces and close friends as well as her companion John, who gave her happiness and kindness when it mattered most.

 Chris loved her flowers; she loved warm summer days and spending time with people she loved. She always had a smile and wanted happiness above everything else. She is celebrated and missed, we are grateful for the messages and kind words from everyone who loved her.

 A private family gathering has been planned and a date set to remember her life, to have fellowship and remember all the things that made Chris smile. We will miss her.
