Margret Fox Obituary

Margret Jean Fox, cherished wife, devoted mother, beloved friend, and esteemed nurse, peacefully passed away at Edson Hospital on Saturday, February 3, 2024. She was born on January 26, 1936, at Henderson Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario, to Otto and Martha Renelt.

Margret was the youngest of three children, preceded in death by her siblings, Ruth and Otto Jr., as well as her daughter Heather Fox-Hartford (2021).

Margret's life was defined by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to caring for others. Graduating from Women's College Hospital in 1959, she embarked on a rich and fulfilling career as a registered nurse, touching countless lives with her expertise and kindness across various healthcare settings.

Twenty-five years ago, Margret moved to Edson with her husband, where she earned the honorary title of the "Recycle Queen" from her family and friends.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Margret was a pillar of strength and support to her loved ones, always eager to share in their joys and triumphs. She found immense joy in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow, and her infectious laughter, encouragement, and sense of humor brightened the lives of all who knew her.

Margret is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Brian Fox; loving daughter, Karen Fox; grandchildren, Jeff Haggar (partner Shyla), Chris Haggar (partner Natacha), Bryan and Stephen Fox-Lucas; great-grandchildren, Austin, Carson & Lucas Haggar; nieces, Renie and Andrew Renelt, Patricia Aman Vaughan, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Edson Hospital for their compassionate care and support during Margret's time of need, as well as to Dr. A. Saincher for his exceptional care.

A celebration of Margret's life will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Edson Cemetery, where a small gathering of friends and family will honor her memory and share fond remembrances. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edson Hospital's nursing education program, continuing Margret's legacy of kindness and compassion.
