Former long-time Edson Alberta resident Margaret Annie Schnirer passed away peacefully at her St. Albert home at the age of 91, with family members at her bedside, Saturday January 4, 2025. Margaret was much more than a wife, Mother, Grandmother or a Great Grandmother all of which she was extremely proud to be. For numerous years she was known in the community for holding high profile positions within The Order of Royal Purple and other not-for-profit organizations she was passionate about.
Margaret was the first of three daughters born to Helen and John Nicholson in Drumheller. When she was a few weeks old, the small family started off on a trek to a homestead in the Pioneer area north of Bear Lake and near Long Lake. Years later her and her sisters attended Pioneer School.
Margaret loved to read all types of books, knitting, bowling, curling, go to the casino, but even more than all of those she loved…BINGO! There was a time when if not home or with family she was at Bingo, after moving to a seniors complex she looked forward to the Bingo games and share her winnings with those who visited. Who can turn down a good chocolate bar?
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Mike of 47 years, sister’s Jessie and Doreen and their husbands. Margaret is survived by daughter Michele/Bert and their family; son Arlan/Trish and two great grandchildren, their son Darrel/Denise and three great grandchildren. Margaret and Mike’s son Dale/Cindy and their family; daughter Kristen/Corey and two great grandchildren and Rachelle/Al and three great grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at Foothills Memorial Chapel in Edson, AB, on January 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
