It is with sadness the family of Marcel Pierre Roy announces his passing on March 16, 2021 in Edson, Alberta. Marcel passed peacefully at the age of 90. He was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on December 21, 1930 to Joseph Noel Alcide Roy and Louise Anna Roy. Marcel moved to Alberta as a young man and began work as a lumberman. Shortly after moving to the Edson area he met Evelyn Sanders. They married and built a farm where they raised their family.
Marcel was a religious man, attending mass weekly at the Sacred Heart Church in Edson. It would take a sick child or cows calving to keep him at home. He was a lifelong member of the Pinegrove Community Hall and a great 4H parent and volunteer.
He will be missed dearly by his children Allan Roy (Wendy), Barb Ludwig (Jacques), Barry Roy (Sonia), Darlene Becker (Andrew) and Henry Roy (Michelle). His grandchildren Alèna, Melanie, Yvette, Devon, Kate, Danica, Ryan, Kyle, Krystal, Murray, Andrea, Jane & Garret. His 15 great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
Marcel was predeceased by his wife of forty-six years, Evelyn on December 3rd, 1999 and his best dog companion, “Tug” on October 5, 2020.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Dr. Saincher for the support and care over the years, especially in his last few weeks.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of choice.
A small family only service will take place at The Sacred Heart Church. Due to COVID-family hopes to hold a celebration of Life later when restrictions lift.
“He will be missed dearly, he was a very great man,
uncomplicated, humble and kind”
