M. Irene (Anderson) Aldred

Psalm 139:18
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

On a beautiful summer morning, Irene went home to her Lord and Saviour. She was much loved by her family and friends and loved us in return.

Irene was predeceased by her husband Len and their sons Gerald and Barry. She was also the last of her siblings and their spouses.

Remembering Irene and mourning her passing are her children, Karen Aldred, Tracy (Maxime) Aldred and Arlene (Tracy) Marcellus. Her beloved grandchildren, Alix Aldred (Tyler), Anthony Marcellus, Paige Aldred (Gabe), Jacie Marcellus, Krystal (Sean) Coble and Irene’s daughter in law, Jackie Hamoline, as well as many extended family members and friends.

Irene grew up on the Manitoba prairie but lived for the majority of her 97 years in Hinton, Alberta.

She and Len arrived in the early 50’s and while raising their children, joined other families to build the pulp mill and the community. Irene was involved with many groups and organizations such as the Hinton United Church, Entrance Square Dance Club and the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, cards, camping and traveled in and outside of Canada. Music of all kinds would see her tapping her toes, clapping her hands and joining in to the song. Irene lived briefly at the Hinton Pine Valley Lodge and sincerely enjoyed the people, friendships and activities.

Irene’s family would like to especially acknowledge and thank the Hinton Home Care staff, Hinton Medical 1st Responders, Maryanne Shopa and Dr Leigh Beamish for their kindness, care and for always treating Irene with gentleness and dignity.

A memorial service for Irene will be held on August 13th, 2026, at 11:00am at the Grace Church on 102 Sunwapta Drive.
