Louise Mayumi (Kishimoto) Maurik

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Louise Maurik, who left this world on August 20, 2025, after a tough battle with dementia and heart issues.

Louise’s life was marked by her strength, tenacity and her strong fashion sense. She was dedicated to her family, her career and her community.  Born in Slocan, British Columbia, and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta, she went on to graduate from the University of Alberta’s inaugural class of Dental Hygiene in 1963. After graduating, she moved to Hinton, Alberta,and shortly thereafter met and married Cory Maurik. They lived and raised their family in the home where Cory still resides to this day. Louise served the majority of her professional life in Public Health and continued working for Alberta Health Services for 50 years. 

Louise is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Cory Maurik, her children, Keith

(Anne-Louise Maurik,) and Dare (Erin Pike). She leaves behind three grandchildren:  Gage Schiltroth, Parker Schiltroth (Brock Gordon) and Rudi Maurik.  She was predeceased by her parents Eiji (1974) and Sachiko (2016) Kishimoto, stepfather Tucker Hironaka (2014) as well as her brother, Robert Kishimoto (2019).

Louise has been cremated and did not wish for there to be a funeral. We ask that you spend some time honouring the remarkable woman she was in your own way (perhaps by purchasing some ridiculously expensive shoes).

May she rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
