Lorraine Hazel (Umpherville) Taylor

Lorraine Hazel (Umpherville) Taylor, aged 88, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, in Edson, Alberta. 

She was born on October 12, 1937, in Horseshoe Bend, Saskatchewan, to Nancy Martha (Harkiss) and Edmond Umpherville. 

Lorraine moved to Edson in the winter of 1955-1956. After raising her young family, she became an active member in many societies and clubs. She was a cook for many years, and loved to travel, with her favorite destination being a family member’s home, or camping with her grandkids. 

Lorraine was reunited in death with her mother Nancy Umpherville (Harkiss), her father Edmond Umpherville, her son, Brian Vance Taylor, her brother, Ernest Edwin Umpherville, and her son-in-law, Norman Robert Dowling. 

Holding her close in their hearts are her devoted daughters, Karen and Myrna (Jay), along with her dear sister, Alice Murray.

Lorraine was a proud grandmother to Karen's children, Ashley (Alex) and Robert. She was also a cherishing grandmother to Myrna’s family: Allan (Jacqueline), Blaine, and Denise (Terry). 

Her legacy lives on through her beloved great-grandchildren: Kaylie, Lilly, Keegan, Tyson, Logan, Carson, Tayden, Dakota, Jasmine, and nieces: Denise, Dianne, Norma, and Amanda, and great-nieces: Jace, Hazel and Autumn. 

A Graveside Service will be held on September 16, 2026, at 1:00PM, at the Glenwood Cemetery, Edson, Alberta.

Following the Graveside Service the family invites everyone to gather at the Jasper House Metis Office, 111 50 Street, Edson, Alberta.
