It is with deepest sorrow in our hearts that we announce Lloyd has gone to spend his eternal life with his Lord and Maker.
Lloyd was born Dec 24, 1944, in Biggar, SK to parents Karl and Olga Mantai. He is the youngest of 7 siblings (Margaret, Elmer, Irene, Alfred, Leona, Marleen) that lived on the family farm in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. After Lloyd graduated high school, he followed his older brothers, Elmer and Alf, to Hinton, Alberta. He started at the Hinton Pulp Mill and worked there for 47 years. He met Marilyn Craggs in 1967 and they married June 26, 1971, in Edmonton, Alberta.
Lloyd and Marilyn started their family with Cindy and then Scott. Their family expanded instantly with the addition of Carlene and Christine when Marilyn’s twin sister, Marion, and husband Jake, died in an accident February 11/78. The girls also had 2 brothers, Lyndon and Nelson, that were raised in Calgary by their aunt and uncle but remained a very close part of their family. Lloyd and Marilyn spent their time with family, friends, and their church community and could often be found camping in their fifth wheel. Lloyd always had a project on the go and spent many hours ‘putzing’ around in his workshops. Lloyd was always generous in every way he could be.
Lloyd is predeceased by his parents, Karl and Olga, and siblings Margaret, Irene, Alfred, and Leona. He is survived by siblings Elmer and Marleen.
Lloyd is also survived by his wife Marilyn and children Cindy (Doug), Carlene (Darren), Christine (Mike), and Scott (Erica). Lloyd was also survived by his 11 grandchildren: Adner, Addy, Sadie, Naomi, Rachel, Sam, Luke, Jacob, Juven, Anna, and Abigail and great granddaughter Aniah.
