Linda Dorothy (Stad) Svedberg

It is with great sadness that the family of Linda Dorothy Svedberg (Stad) announce her passing on May 29, 2025, at home surrounded by her family.

Linda was born on July 25, 1968 in Smithers, BC to Tom and Janet Stad.  After 3 boys, Ralph, Kenneth and David, Linda was the first girl of the family.  She also had 2 younger siblings Edward and Elizabeth.  Linda and her family moved to the Niton area where she grew up 1 KM west of the Peers Corner.  Linda went to school in Niton.  Linda had her first daughter Rachel while still living at home.  Gerry and Linda met when she was babysitting for Gerry’s cousin Brenda.  Linda and Gerry made a home together on the Svedberg homestead on Hwy 47.  This is where Linda became mom to Angela, Dan and Dave.  To complete their family Chrystal was born in 1989.  Gerry and Linda were married on June 19, 1993.

Linda worked as a lifeguard at the Edson pool for many years.  She then started her business Brookside Travel with her friend Charmaine.  Linda continued to operate the business right up to her death.

Linda loved to travel and enjoyed sitting on a beach somewhere listening to her favourite singer Kenny Chesney.  Linda was very involved with her family and spending time with all of them was a true joy in her life.

Linda was never scared to take on new opportunities and did everything with honesty and integrity.  She had very strong values and was well liked by everyone.  Linda was always willing to help others.

Linda is survived by her husband Gerry.  Her children Angela Svedberg, Dan Svedberg, David Svedberg, Rachel Gibbons (Graham) and Chrystal Ennis. Her grandchildren Francesca Giovannetti, Amelia Goransrud, Jackson Goransrud, Aubrey Gibbons, Cohen Ennis and Laila Svedberg.  Linda also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Linda was predeceased by her parents Tom and Janet Stad, her in-laws Oscar and Helen Svedberg, Nephews Scott and Jonathan Stad.

The Celebration of Life service to honour the life of Linda Svedberg will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Edson Legion, 5016 5th Ave in Edson, Ab.  Live streaming will be available details to follow.
