With great sadness we announce the passing of Leslie (Les) Watt on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the age of 70.
Leslie was born in Unity, Saskatchewan to his parents George and Amy Watt.
Les grew up on his parent’s farm outside of Unity with his sister and four brothers. Les attended Cairnsview School until 1962, when he was then bussed to school in Unity. After Les graduated from high school he moved to Edmonton. In 1975 Les came home to Unity on vacation and met his wife of 47 years, Debbie.
Les and Debbie were married in 1976 and Les received his journeyman welding certification in Edmonton. Their son Michael was born in Edmonton and in 1979 the family moved to Edson, where their son Colin was born. Les worked for Procor, Luscar, Westmoreland, Weyerhaeuser plus several other companies in the Edson area.
In September of 2016, Les began the retired life by spending time with his granddaughter, pushing snow with the quad, mowing the large lawn, cutting down the occasional tree (which may have grazed the barn), puttering in his shop or having coffee with the guys.
Les enjoyed sports including watching the Montreal Canadiens, the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the LPGA, especially when Canadian golfer Brooke Henderson was playing. Les took part in local sports such as curling, recreational hockey and the occasional round of golf.
In August of 2022, Leslie underwent successful Aortic Valve replacement surgery. While recovering in hospital Leslie was diagnosed with Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy.
Leslie is predeceased by his father George and mother Amy.
Leslie is survived by his wife Debbie, sons Colin and Michael (Nicole, granddaughter Cassie); his sister Heather (Lynn); brothers - Robert (Carol), Terry (Tomi), Glen (Rita) and David (Glenna) plus nieces and nephews and cousins.
