Leonard Ray Findlay passed away peacefully at the Edson Healthcare Centre on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the age of 77. Leonard was born in Marlboro, AB, on April 5, 1948, to Dave and Marie Findlay.
Leonard is survived by his wife Louise of 20 years, his children Christopher Findlay (Michelle Honeyman), Garfield Findlay (Tara), Jennifer Findlay (Ken Markham), Cheryl Findlay, Gerri Kolasa (Matt), Micheal Beier (Anna Oostenbrink) and Tracy Beier (Lesley Davidson) as well as his 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Leonard is also survived by his 2 brothers Danny Findlay Sr, John (Valerie) Findlay, brother-in-law Ahti Holopainen as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Leonard was predeceased by his first wife Bonnie Findlay, his parents Dave and Marie Findlay, sisters Nancy Desjarlais, Vivian Holopainen and Linda Findlay, brothers Allan Findlay, Lloyd Findlay, Raymond Findlay and Peter Findlay, and sister-in-law Madeleine Findlay.
Leonard was born in Marlboro, AB, before the family moved to Long Lake, AB. Leonard started working at an early age in the lumber mills for several years at Carlson’s camp and then for Don Hill. Eventually Leonard began driving truck for Worthing Transport for many years before returning to the lumber mill. He worked for 30+ years at Erith Tie, Sundance, eventually West Fraser, before his return to truck driving for Johnson & Herbert.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the Edson Hospital Acute Care Unit for their kind and compassionate care for Leonard, helping to make his final days as comfortable as possible.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 1:00 pm, with a luncheon to follow in the Community Room downstairs.
