Kim Hill Obituary

Kim Colleen Hill, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on April 27th, 2024, in Edson, Alberta. Born on August 5th, 1958, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Kim brought light and laughter to the lives of all who knew her.

Kim was the cherished daughter of William ("Bill") and Phyllis ("Phyl") Hill. She was raised alongside her siblings, Melody, Bonny (Lowell Gullickson), William ("Bud") (Sandra), and Kevin Hill. She was a devoted mother to her daughter Megan Hill and adored by her nieces and nephews, Erin ("Katie") Keil, Clayton Gullickson, Kelsey, and Nicole Hill. Kim was predeceased by her parents and sister, Bonny.

Kim's infectious laughter and quick wit were her trademarks. Her unique sense of humor, capable of transforming ordinary moments into extraordinary ones, was a gift she shared with all. Her bedtime stories, including the unforgettable 'Baby Pickle,' were a testament to her creativity and love for laughter, leaving her daughter, niece, and nephew in fits of giggles. Kim made countless hilarious stories and memories with her loved ones during summers at the family cabin at Emma Lake and on road trips to visit relatives.

Kim's artistic talents, inherited from her father, were evident in her poems and sketches. Her beauty was undeniable, and her ability to turn a mishap into a marvel was legendary. Once, at a wedding, she donned a black bathing suit and sarong after one of her brothers, who shall remain nameless (Bud), accidentally left her suitcase at home, yet she still looked stunning.

Kim had a deep love for music, enjoying a wide variety of genres. She passed this passion down to her daughter, creating a lasting bond through their mutual love for music. Their shared passion became a cherished aspect of their relationship, connecting them in a meaningful way throughout their lives.

Kim's love for music was only matched by her affection for her loyal companion, May, a cherished Pomeranian who stood faithfully by her side for many years. Together, they strolled down Mainstreet Edson daily, greeting friends and making connections. For over 25 years, Kim also dedicated herself to serving the community as a valued member of Children and Family Services.

Despite facing early-onset dementia, which impacted her quality of life in her later years, Kim continued to inspire with her resilience and grace. Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the healthcare aides and nurses at the Edson Continuing Care unit for their exceptional care and support. As well as thank those people who touched her life during these years. We are grateful for the light that you brought to her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories or an animal charity of your choice in memory of Kim Hill.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor later this year, with details to be announced. All who were touched by Kim's remarkable life are invited to attend and celebrate her enduring legacy of love, laughter, and light.
