Kelly Jeannette Stairs (O’Leary) of Hinton, Alberta, passed away suddenly in her sleep at home on March 26, 2024. She was born to Muriel and Terry O’Leary on April 24,1959 in Atikokan, Ontario.
She leaves behind her husband of thirty years, Don Schlitt, daughter Crystal-Lee and son Bradley Cruise (Delilah); grandchildren Whisper Lynn (Jesse), Haven (Jesse), Mason, and Hailey; great grandchildren Aria, Isabelle, Adonis and Kairi.
Kelly was incredibly proud of her grandchildren and cherished every moment she had with them.
Also left to mourn are her siblings Andrew McMullen (Jane), Kathy Campbell (Blair), Jody O’Leary, Dean McMullen (Hazel), David McMullen (Rona), Shayne McMullen, Teresa Tremblay (Roger), Bella Ojala (Ed), and numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored. She is also survived by her uncles Vic Prokopchuk, Bob (Diana) Coulombe, and David (Candy) Coulombe as well as a long list of cousins.
Kelly was predeceased by her father, Terry O’Leary; loving parents Muriel and Daniel McMullen; sister Carrie; daughter Angel; aunts Madge Prokopchuk and Sylvia Coulombe; uncles Ken Coulombe, Ron Coulombe and cousin Tammy Corneliusen.
Kelly enjoyed life with her family and looked forward to spending quality time with them. Her sense of humour and fun antics often kept her family and friends in stitches. She found great joy in the outdoors and everywhere she camped or visited Kelly usually spent some time hunting for the prettiest, shiniest rocks to add to her ever-growing rock garden.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Atikokan where she will be laid to rest with her late daughter, Angel.
"The family is both the fundamental unit of society as well as the root of culture. It ... is a perpetual source of encouragement, advocacy, assurance, and emotional refueling that empowers a child to venture with confidence into the greater world and to become all that he can be."
