With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, Marilyn 'Kay' Williams. Mom was born in Brooklyn, NY July 27, 1937. Her family returned to Edmonton in the '40s when her father rejoined the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. As an adult she worked in the health and fitness industry as well as the provincial government. She was also a qualified swim and ballet instructor. She lived in Edmonton and several Alberta locations before settling in Edson to be nearer to her daughters. She enjoyed the services and amenities offered by Edson for over 25 years, especially swimming at the Edson Rec Centre into her 80s. She was passionate about watching figure skating competitions and Blue Jays baseball.
Kay passed away suddenly on June 21, 2023, and will be sadly missed by her daughters Cindy (Eric) Holan and Susan (Tom) Heidler as well as 4 grandchildren Dale (Charmaine) Holan, Amanda (Jarrad) Zezel, Chelsea (Clint) Roy and Wade (Katie) Heidler. She was able to greet and know 6 great grandchildren Aeden & Brennen Holan, Julia & Jackson Zezel, Hunter Roy and Melody Heidler and looked forward to the birth of a second Heidler great grandchild. She is survived by her brother Hugh Williams. Kay was predeceased by her teenaged son Christopher Mergaert and her parents Eddy & Mildrid Williams.
We would like to thank the staff at Parkland Lodge for their care and kindness in the time she spent with them. As per Mom's wishes she has been cremated and there will be a private family ceremony in the near future.
