Kathy Thiessen Obituary

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Kathy, who passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Kathy was born June 20, 1963, in Vanderhoof, B.C. and moved to Edson in 1991, where she lived out her final days.

To us, she wasn't defined by the illness that took her far too soon. She was defined by the life she lived, the love she gave, and the strength she carried every single day.

She was a devoted stay-at-home mother whose greatest accomplishment was raising her four children. Her love was quiet but unwavering, found in countless sacrifices, comforting hugs, homemade meals, late nights, and the endless

ways she put her family before herself.

Everything she did came from a place of love.

She was incredibly talented as a seamstress and designer, with a gift for turning fabric into something beautiful. Her creativity was matched only by her patience and attention to detail. She found joy in creating with her hands, leaving pieces of herself stitched into everything she made.

From the time she was a little girl, horses held a special place in her heart. She admired their beauty, their spirit, and their freedom. Her love for animals extended far beyond horses—she had a soft heart for every creature fortunate enough to cross her path.

She also had a love for speed and adventure. Whether it was behind the wheel or simply embracing life's excitement, she reminded us that sometimes you have to live boldly and enjoy the ride.

She was strong, fiercely independent, and resilient. Even through life's greatest hardships, she continued to love deeply and care for those around her. Her quiet strength shaped the lives of everyone who knew her.

Pre-deseased by her father David Martens Jr and her mother Caroline Kathleen Martens, she leaves behind four children: Travis (Chantelle), Jacqueline (Jeff), Brett (Lauran) and Rashell (Cole) and her 5 grandchildren Jaden, Bradley, Allie, Averie and Serenity, as well as her siblings Larry (SheIIi), Robert (Cindy), Marlene and Lorie, who will forever carry her love, her lessons, her strength, and her memory in their hearts. Though our hearts are shattered by her absence, we find comfort in knowing that the love she gave us can never be taken away.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our Mom.

Mom's finally resting place will be as she wished, with her parents in Vanderhoof, B.C.
