June Reid (Fillmore) Nordtvedt

June Reid Nordtvedt (nee Fillmore) passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, at the Hinton Continuing Care Centre, with family at her side.  June was born on May 7,1933 at Shell River, Manitoba. She passed away at the age of 92.

June is survived by her children Donna (Rick Shank), Mary, Brian, and Norman (Soraya Nordtvedt), four grandchildren Ryan Shank, Nicole Holland (Stephen), Charmaine Nordtvedt and Katelyn Nordtvedt, great grandchildren Cohen and Mikalea Holland, and sisters Helen Armistead and Wilma Fillmore and numerous nieces and nephews.

June was predeceased by her husband Vernon Chester Nordtvedt, her parents Charles Fillmore and Mary Fillmore and sisters Mildred Carroll, Viola Longbottom, Christina Wilcott, Mabel Scott, Muriel Dixon and Joan Paul and brothers Edward Fillmore and Walter Fillmore.

June grew up in the Roblin/Makaroff area in Manitoba and moved to Alberta with her family in 1947.  In Alberta, June lived with her family in the Shining Bank area.  She married Vernon in 1961.  After a few years in Shining Bank, Vernon and June moved to the Edson area.  She was small but mighty and very independent.  June liked berry picking, gardening and being a housewife.  She took over cooking “Sunday Supper” from her mother and continued that tradition right up to earlier this year.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at the Edson Emergency Department, Home Care, Acute Care and the staff at the Hinton Continuing Care Centre, as well as all the other staff in the health care system who have helped her through these last few years.

There will be a small private service for her in the spring of 2026 and she will be interred at the Edson Cemetery.
