It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jeffrey “Jeff” Earl Ducharme, aged 65, on February 25th, 2026 he was a Beloved Son, Dad, Papa, Uncle and Friend Jeff was a remarkable man that touched the lives of many.
Jeff is survived by his two wonderful daughters, Amber and Ashleigh (Michael), his five loving grandchildren, Victoria, Jeffrey, Bella, Anna and Lucas, his younger sister Vickie (Tom), his nieces and nephews, Robbie, Brittany, Jeremy, Jayden, Kirk, Myles, Meaghan, Nick, Danny, Conrad, Caren, Cherie, David, and Adam, his extended family and his countless close friends. Jeff was predeceased by his parents, Rita Annette Ducharme (2012) and Orile “Earl” Ducharme (2014), as well as his four older siblings, Sharon Fenk(2019), Wanda Ducharme (2019), Connie Ducharme (2023) and Rocky Ducharme (2025).
Jeff Ducharme was born on September 23rd, 1960, in the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was the fifth child of Earl and Rita Ducharme. Jeff was raised in the hamlet of Ste. Rita, Manitoba. He went on to become an exceptionally skilled carpenter and began a career constructing houses.
In 1986, Jeff married Kelli Jones-Ducharme (div. 2014). Together, they had 2 children, Amber and Ashleigh Ducharme. Jeff and his family relocated to the town of Hinton, Alberta in 1994. He became a Dragline Operator at Obed Mountain Mine (Westmoreland Coal). Jeff continued his career there until 2026. Jeff’s construction experience also led him to building/renovating many of the ‘00s era homes around Hinton. In 2024, Jeff transformed his own residence into a sanctuary for his eldest grandchild, Victoria Ducharme, who held a special place inside his heart.
On his days off, Jeff liked to keep busy and took pride in completing endless handyman projects for others. A popular expression among those who knew him was “If Jeff can’t fixit, nobody can!” His talents didn't stop there; Jeff also played guitar for over 50 years. Music was an integral part of Jeff’s life. Rock, Country and R&B were some of his favorites. Jeff loved the freedom of the outdoors and had a passion for Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. He rode his bike for over 35 years. Jeff went on numerous adventures, near and far, and always enjoyed his annual summer trip to the North Country Fair. Jeff’s unparalleled strength, loyalty and kindness will never be forgotten; neither will his voluminous head of hair, “Eh?’
A Celebration of Life for Jeff Ducharme will be held on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, at The Venue (124 Athabasca Ave, Hinton AB). Doors open at 7:00 p.m.
