His professional journey began in 1968 at the mill in Hinton, Alberta, where he laid the foundation for a remarkable career. Driven by ambition and a desire for growth, Jean-Guy pursued further education at NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology), becoming a skilled electrician. He concluded his professional life by retiring at 60, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and expertise.
Outside of work, Jean-Guy was a man of vibrant interests. His love for electronics was matched by his adventurous spirit, particularly evident in his passion for windsurfing. These hobbies reflected his curious nature and zest for life.
Jean-Guy is survived by his son Luc and daughter-in-law Johanna. He also leaves behind his siblings: Monique Michaud, Pierre Cayer, Juliane Cayer, Ginette Mercer, Hubert Cayer, and Michelle Clement. Each of these family members was an important part of his life's journey. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Claudette.
A man of warmth, skill, and determination, Jean-Guy will be remembered for his ability to embrace life's challenges with grace and enthusiasm. His legacy lives on through the memories he created and the lives he touched.
