The family of Janet Rodseth are sad to announce her passing on Feb 16th, 2023, at the age of 87.
She was a bright, steady light in our lives who will be missed in the years to come.
Janet was born in Ottawa, Ontario to William and Ida Paterson. She attended nursing school in Kingston, Ontario and became a Registered Nurse in 1957. She then moved to Vancouver to work and met her future husband, Norman. They relocated to Alberta and Janet left the paid workforce to become a mother to 3 daughters. Over the years, the family lived in Grande Prairie, High Level, Edson and Spruce Grove. In retirement, Janet and Norman chose to move to their dream home, an acreage outside of Edson. They spent many years enjoying the quiet country life while travelling in all directions to see new locales and visit old friends and family.
Janet is survived by her children; Judy Rodseth, Lynn (Charles) Zelden, and Pat (Ferenc) Scobie; her grandchildren Miriam Zelden, Noah Scobie and Eric Scobie. She is also survived by her brother Geoff (Philip Fung) Paterson, sister-in-law Elaine (Gary) Sky and numerous nieces and nephews in Ontario, Alberta and BC/Mexico.
Janet was predeceased by her husband Norman Rodseth, and siblings Ann Paterson, Bill Paterson and sister-in-law Diana Paterson.
Donations to Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories and Alberta Cancer Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Edson Continuing Care and the staff at the Edson Healthcare Centre – Acute Care Unit. Your attentiveness and heartfelt caring of our mother over the last two years was greatly appreciated. Thank you.
A Funeral Service will be held on Feb 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM the Bethel Pentecostal Church in Edson.
