Ida Jean (Doonan) Babcock

Our mom (Ida) Jean Babcock passed away November 12 2020.
As she was always such a spirited and lively lady, one we thought would always conquer whatever she came to, it was a shock to us that she passed.  She must have just been too tired.
However, she was never too tired to join in the fun or perform for her kids, grandkids or great grandkids. Very recently she put on a full dinosaur costume and danced around her grandkids living room. She sang some of her favourite songs ( without her teeth) on a road trip to her captured audience of grands and greats.
Mom always said she only had three faults.
1 She sometimes took the Lords name in vain
2 She sometimes spoke before she thought
3 She sometimes was a little lacking in patience
Any one who knew mom could see her sense of humour in the above.

Mom was from a large family that grew up mostly in the Dawson Creek/ Rolla area. Her parents were Edward and Grace Doonan. Jean was the 9th of 15 kids. 11 girls and 4 boys. She spoke fondly of the great fun and hijinx that they ( and their neighbours ) had.
Bert and Jean Babcock moved to Edson Alberta in the fall of 1998. Once she was settled she quickly began to meet and make new friends here.
From those first met at aqua size to neighbours and card players.
When she moved over to her condo by the Pioneer Cabin, she was able to join in the card games, floor curling and all activities. She met and touched even more people. Mom loved to be very social.
Mom has been pre deceased by her beloved husband Bert Babcock, her mother & father, her 4 brothers and 5 of her sisters. What a welcoming party they will have.

She has left to mourn her passing by her children Gordon Babcock Cathy and his children Cheryl and Scott Armstrong ,Sarah and Logan; Teresa and Neil Valentini, Brayden and Josh, Curtis Babcock, Zachary Babcock, and Samantha Babcock. Kevin and Carmen Babcock, and their children Niki and Scott Arden and Burke, Cory Babcock, Trini Babcock. Wendy and Don Patterson and their children Brett, Holt, Scott. Brian and Karen Babcock, and their children Justin and Meagan, Avery, Skylar and Sawyer, Staci and Tayler, Hayden, Emersyn and Teagan.
As well as her 5 remaining sisters, and  more than 100 nieces nephews and their children.
We would like to have a Celebration of mom’s life, but because of Covid, we want to wait until Kev and his family can safely travel from Costa Rica to be with us.
We will love you forever and miss you until we meet again.
