Helen Emily Washburn

With heavy hearts our family regrets to announce the passing of Helen Emily Washburn

at the age of 87 years on March 27^th, 2021 in Hinton, Alberta.

Helen married Les Hore in Edmonton in August 1954. They moved to Hinton in 1959.

Helen stayed home to raise her two boys until they were in school. She worked for Dr. Ann Reid and then went to West Fraser until retirement.  She moved to Edson for a number of years and then moved back to Hinton.

Helen loved to shop and collect knickknacks.  She enjoyed camping and dancing even on roller blades. She spent a few hours at the Old Grind visiting!!! She did a lot of back road drives in her street quad.

Helen is survived by her sister Jocelan and son Greg (Bev) Hore and their children Jay (Jacquie) Hore, Donn (Casey) Hore, Laura and Marc Poiron, daughter-in-law Shari Hore and her children Lindsay (Jared), Ryan (Lindsey), Brad (Cynthia).  Helen had 16 great grandchildren.

Helen was predeceased by her son Geoff Hore and her sister Mable.

Helen requested there be no service, but a private backyard gathering around a firepit in celebration of her life.

We would like to thank everyone at Hinton Healthcare and Continuing Care Centres for all their help.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Helen’s memory to Canadian Diabetes Association.
