A Life Well Lived: Harvey Klaver June 17, 1951 - October 16, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Harvey Klaver on October 16, 2024. He went peacefully, surrounded by family. Harvey was the third child, but first born in Canada, from parents who immigrated from the Netherlands. Harvey grew up and lived his life in Hinton, Alberta. He was very proud of his community and the people in it. Harvey was a positive, happy, and funny person and a natural storyteller. He made friends easily, and wherever he went there was always laughter. Dependable, accommodating, kind-hearted, astute and smart, he was well respected among his co-workers, family, friends, teammates and the players he coached over the years. He was an avid sportsman, with his favorites being golf and hockey. Vacationing with his family filled up much of his retirement years. We are so grateful to have spent this time together.
Harvey was the husband to Charlotte, father to Jason and Justine (Shawkat). He was affectionately called ‘Dad’ for 40 years by Jason ‘Vern’ Woodhead. He was most proud of his grandchildren: Raina, Alyssa, Anna and Addison and ‘Grandpa Harvey’ to Sahil and Sayaan Kibria (California). Harvey was a brother to Ken (Verna), Jean (Paul), Virginia, Linda (Jorge) and Shirley (Dave) and brother-in-law to Roxy (Brent) and Kelly (Denise). He was a beloved uncle to Lance (Tanya), Marnie (Bert), Jill, Alex (Ginger), Emily (Nate), Aram (Laura), Quinn (Glenna), Kevin (Linette), Travis (Kathy), Peyton (Brody), Tia, Chase and Lane. Harvey was predeceased by his parents Dorthy and Alex Klaver, parents-in-law Victor and Nancy Worobetz and brother-in-law Jorge Heinze.
He was beloved by countless friends and colleagues, too many to mention. As one friend said:
“We were the lucky ones, we got to know him”.
“A Life Well Lived” presentation and gathering of storytelling will be announced in the coming days.
