It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gordon Gerald Dumenko on January 25, 2025, in the Edson Hospital, with most of his children by his side.
Gord is predeceased by his parents Michael and Geraldine Dumenko, brother Bill, wife Beatrice and granddaughter Jade.
Gordon is survived by his brother Clarence (Darlene), sisters Darlene (Ben) and Cindy (Wes), his children Gregory (Jennifer), Krista, Vanessa (Chris), Simone (Daniel), 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gord was born in Rivers, Manitoba, where he lived on the CFB base until their family transferred to the Chilliwack, BC, CFB base in 1971.
Gord moved to Fox Creek in 1975, where he made many friends and memories. He loved spending time with his friends and family outdoors, whether he was playing baseball, camping, fishing or golfing. In the winter months he was often spotted by his Pom Pom touque, snow blowing the neighbourhood, stopping in to have a visit with friends along the way. He volunteered countless hours and was an active member with the Fox Creek Legion.
In 2003, he packed up the family and went up to Spirit River, Alberta where he retired a few years later and raised a great garden. In 2010 he moved to Edson to be closer to his brother Bill. Although he was retired, he helped Francois at Silver Birch Golf course and was always tinkering outside at the acreage. In 2023, he worked part-time at Walmart greeting the public, which he thrived on. Dad loved visiting and reminiscing with people.
Gord was always available for anyone in need. Whether it was you or one of the many kids’ friends, he was there. He will be greatly missed by so many.
