Gordon Arthur Campbell passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the age of 89, at the Pine Valley Lodge in Hinton, AB.
Gordon was born in Banff, AB, on March 18, 1935, to father Peter and mother Kathleen. Gordon and his older sister Barbara grew up in Nordegg, AB.
He was a Forest Ranger with Alberta Forest Services and was stationed in Rock Lake, Moberly and Grande Cache.
When his children were ready to attend school, he moved the family to Hinton, AB, where he started work in the pulp mill and eventually retired from there.
Gordon and his wife Violet enjoyed camping, especially at the ‘gravel pit’. Many family memories were made there. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed cruises out to his favourite animal watching places around Hinton. He also spent time going for coffee with his friends!
He is survived by his children, daughter Berna (Rick) Weir of Grande Prairie, AB, and son, David Campbell of Hinton, AB. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Christopher (Ashley) Letkeman of Vernon, BC, Erin (Mike) Gueverra of Edmonton, AB, and great-granddaughter Violet Gueverra, Hunter Davey-Campbell and Cooper Davey-Campbell, both of Hinton, AB. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Violet and his sister Barb (Dick) Radke.
There will be no service as per Gordon’s wishes. Donations to the Hinton Healthcare Foundation or the Pine Valley Lodge can be made, on his behalf, if desired.
Many, many thanks to Jen Davey-Campbell for all the visits, outings and extra special things she did for Gordon, especially the Friday date nights!
Thanks to Dr. Corser and all the staff with Home Care and the Pine Valley Lodge for the great care and attention given to Gordon.
