It is with a heavy heart that our family announces the passing of our father, Gilmar Engerdahl on April 3, 2022, in Edson, AB at the age of 82 years. Gilmar was born in St. Walburg, SK on December 25, 1939, to Augot and Vernon Engerdahl.
Gilmar is lovingly remembered by his daughters Rose (Bobby) Lintott of Vernon, BC, Irene (Wishart) of Vernon, BC, Elaine (Rick) Kynock of Fort McMurray, AB, and sons Donald (Maureen) of Hinton, AB, Dwayne of Hinton, AB, Keith (Lisa) of Edson, AB, Douglas (Debbie) of Hinton, AB, Kenneth of Edson, AB, and Ricky (Brandy) of McBride, BC. Gilmar is also loved by his eighteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Gilmar was survived by his siblings Bernice (Edmonton, AB), Lloyd (Edmonton, AB), Gilbert (Calgary, AB), Veryl (Wynndel, BC), Brian (Abbotsford, BC), and Melvin (Abbotsford, BC).
Gilmar spent most of his youth in the Cold Lake, Grand Centre area and it was there that he married his wife Aurore in 1960. He later relocated his family to Hinton, Alberta in the mid 1970’s where he worked at Cardinal River Coals Ltd. as a Plant Maintenance Superintendent until his retirement in 1999. He had a strong work ethic and was respected by those that worked alongside him.
Gilmar was an avid golfer and loved being outdoors spending time with family and friends. Gilmar was predeceased by his loving wife Aurore (2002), and his siblings Agnes, Earl, Ralph,and Dale.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday September 3, 2022, in Hinton Alberta.
