Garry Dennis Julius Banack

Garry Banack passed away peacefully on December 13, 2021, at the University of Alberta hospital with is family by his side. He was 66 years old.

Garry was born in Camrose, Alberta to Dennis and Angela Banack and grew up in Edson, Alberta. After a brief move to Jasper and back to Camrose, he settled with his true love, Patty Banack, back in Edson. Garry had three siblings, Lorraine (Symes), David, and Marilyn (Beaupre).

Garry completed his schooling to become master electrician and worked faithfully for many years around the Edson area. His career path included lengthy relationships with Koebel Electric, Edson Hospital, Dauble Electric, and finally Conoco Philips/Cenovus Energy. He was renowned through the industry for his exceptional work, meticulous attention to detail, and his intuitive trouble shooting. He was a great resource for his colleagues and coworkers while consistently demonstrating patience, openness, and a willingness to support others. Garry retired in February 2018.

Garry was a private man, often preferring to spend time with his family and loved ones. His home was an enormous source of pride for him and represented both his modest nature and his desire to provide for his family. His focus was always on taking care of others. His selfless approach to life was appreciated by all those who knew him. As a parent and grandparent, he set an expectation of prioritizing family above all else. He was a man a few words, but lessons he shared have created a proud legacy that will live on for generations.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife and life-long partner of 49 years, Patty, his three sons, Cory (Erin), Scott (Stacy), and Matthew, and four grandchildren Ethan, Aiden, Adele, and Jacob. Also, his three siblings Lorraine (Bruce), David (Stacey), and Marilyn (Bert).

Garry was predeceased by his mother, Angela and father, Dennis.

We are grateful for the time and enormous influence Garry had on us. For those fortunate enough to know him well, you will appreciate the magnitude of this loss. Garry will be greatly missed.
