Born in Lethbridge, Alberta, December 23, 1934, Fred moved to Hattonford, Alberta, at a very early age.
He worked in the defense industries in Canada and the US and the oil and gas industry in Saskatchewan before returning home to Hattonford to establish a cattle-based farming operation in the 1970’s. He was always eager to promote his community as well as serving on many agricultural, forestry, and petroleum related committees and serving as a county councilor for a number of terms.
Fred was predeceased by MaryLou, June, Margaret, sister Margarette, daughter Lynette, and step grandson Aaron McLean.
Fred was survived by sons Peter (Dianne), Lars (Pat) and Lance (Deanna), stepsons Rick (Marion) and Micheal, stepdaughters Jayne (Mike) and Janice, granddaughters Alisha and Crystal, grandsons Aaron, Regis, Jean-Pierre, Sheldon, Quinton, Cameron, Auston, Landon and Kaley, 22 great grandchildren and special friends Christina, Dustin and Cole Bowman.
A Memorial and Life Celebration will be held on January 24, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Beaver Meadows Hall in Hattonford, Alberta.
