Fred Whitford was raised in Hinton/Entrance area, he was the oldest child of Lena O'chiese and George Whitford. He was blessed with two children, one boy named Sheldon and one girl named Freda that had passed a few years earlier. Fred has 6 grandchildren ages ranging from 9 years old to 18 years old. Fred is the oldest out of the 11 children that Lena and George had, he has 6 sisters and 5 brothers but 2 of them have passed named Joanne and Percy. He will be greatly missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Fred worked as faller / labourer all of his life in Hinton. He will be sadly missed by family and the numerous friends he made in his lifetime. Some of his proudest moments were when his children were born, and telling stories to the community. He had the biggest smile when he was nominated for, and then won, volunteer of the year of 2017 from Hinton Employment Learning Place.
