Elmer Pelke Obituary

It is with the Heaviest of Hearts we announce the passing of Elmer Norman Pelke on Tuesday March 19, 2024, at the age of 89 years. Elmer leaves behind his loving wife Agnes of 66 years and three children.

Elmer was born on October 20, 1934, on the Pelke homestead in North Rosevear. There he met Agnes Stone and the two were married on February 15, 1958.  They purchased a small home in Glenwood and had three children: Norman, Eileen and Heather.

Elmer worked on the seismic for a short period of time, then in 1962 he moved to a job with Alberta Transportation as a grader Operator.

In September of 1974 they purchased the farm in Wolf Creek, where they lived and raised their children. Elmer had a small herd of cattle and other livestock that kept him busy throughout the days. He continued to work as a grader operator until his retirement from Alberta Transportation in 1991, at the age of 56. Then he kept busy on the farm.  After his retirement, Elmer spent his days in the garage tinkering and fixing things, having coffee with friends, fishing at the lake, and occasionally camping with Agnes and family.

Elmer was predeceased by his mother Pauline and father Fredrick along with 9 siblings. Lydia is his last surviving sister who currently lives in B.C.  Elmer will be deeply missed by his wife Agnes, son Norman, daughter Eileen (Brian) and daughter Heather (Ken), grandchildren; Ryan (Shyla), Shaylene (Chris), Michael (Kayleen), Briana (Cody), along with 8 great grandchildren.

Elmer cherished his family and friends, he always looked forward to special gatherings and celebrations over the years.

We will always remember his smile, his laughter, and the stories he told of his past and present.
