It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Alexander Sain on 2026-04-09, at the age of 97 years. Born in Edmonton on 1929-01-09, Edward spent his final days at Hinton Continuing Care. He will be affectionately remembered for his gentle nature, his enduring love of fishing, and his unwavering commitment to his family.
Edward especially cherished the special bond he shared with his granddaughters. Their presence brought him immense joy, and he took great pride in their achievements and the time spent together as a family. The love and connection Edward had with his granddaughters held a special place in his heart, providing him comfort and happiness throughout his life.
He held dear the many fishing adventures he embarked on with his son. These cherished outings were a special part of their relationship, providing lasting memories of time spent together on the water, sharing stories, laughter, and a love of the outdoors.
In his early years, Edward was active in the Hinton community through his involvement with Hinton Minor Sports, the Hinton Golf Club, and the Hinton Hawks. He was always working quietly behind the scenes, making sure that everything ran smoothly and whatever needed to be done.
Edward is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Debra Benbow and her husband Mel, as well as his granddaughters, Ashley Heitland and her husband Kevin, and Gillian Bennison and her husband Douglas. He is also survived by his brother, Ernest Sain and his wife Diane, and his niece, Sam. Edward was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lucy, and his son, Trevor.
