Edward Fillmore passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, at the Edson Continuing Care Centre, with family at his side. Edward was born on May 28,1926, at Shell River, Manitoba. He passed away at the age of 99.
Edward is survived by his sisters, Helen Armistead, June Nordtvedt, and Wilma Fillmore, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, Charles Fillmore and Mary Fillmore, sisters Mildred Carroll, Viola Longbottom, Christina Wilcott, Mabel Scott, Muriel Dixon, and Joan Paul, and brother Walter Fillmore.
Edward grew up in the Roblin/Makaroff area in Manitoba and moved to Alberta with his family in 1947. Edward first farmed in the Shining Bank area and then moved to the Grande Prairie Trail area to farm in 1987. He was our “Uncle Eddie” and we loved him very much. He was a regular at our family’s Sunday suppers. He liked horseshoes, horses, gardening, farming, and “the simple life”.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Parkland Lodge and the Edson Continuing Care Centre staff for their excellent care and support over the years.
There will be a small private service for him in the spring of 2026, and he will be interred at the Shining Bank Cemetery.
