Edward Barford

1949-2020

On June 6, 2020, Ed Barford, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 70.

Ed was born in Winnipeg to Dorothy and Harold Barford and grew up in Manitoba as the youngest of four children.  At the age of 16, Ed started his career as an electrician and in 1970 he married his wife of 50 years, Garda.  They moved their family to Edson in 1981 where Ed eventually started his own electrical company and was dedicated to serving his clients for the next 40 years.

Ed was a strong supporter of youth sports, especially minor hockey.  Nothing made him prouder than watching his son’s or grandchildren’s sporting events at the arena, gym or on the field.  In his spare time, Ed enjoyed fishing with his family or watching a good John Wayne western.  He will always be remembered for his patient and easy-going nature.

Ed is survived by his wife Garda Barford; his son Ed (Shannon) Barford; his grandchildren Regan, Ty and Colton Barford; and his brother John (Sharon) Barford.  He was predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Harold; and his sisters Hazel Asham and Judy Stuckel.

No service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edson Minor Hockey or Edson Royal Canadian Legion #51.
