~With hearts full of sorrow and gratitude for having known him, our family announces the passing of Dylan James Sipila, who left us unexpectedly on May 20th, 2026, far too soon for many of his dreams to be realized. Born on October 24, 1990, in Jasper, Alberta, Dylan’s journey through life was marked by adventure, wit, and an ability to light up even the darkest rooms with his independent spirit and ironic sense of humour.
Growing up in Jasper, Dylan embraced the beauty and social ease of small-town life. Whether snowboarding powder slopes, skateboarding with friends, river rafting, or simply hanging out, he found joy in every corner. His sharp wit was his signature, sparking laughter in countless hearts.
Dylan’s desire for a fresh start led him briefly to Kamloops, but the pull of home brought him back to Jasper when he began his career with CN in 2022. Jasper wasn’t just where Dylan lived; it was where his heart was, surrounded by his loving family, lifelong friends and breathtaking landscapes that matched his dynamic energy.
Music was Dylan’s heartbeat. His love for concert going was more than a hobby—it was a testament to his appreciation for life’s raw, authentic moments.
Dylan leaves behind his beloved partner, Dayna Pettipas, his devoted parents, Rob and Donna Sipila, his brother Levi (Kirsty), cherished niece Iris, and nephew Lincoln. He is lovingly remembered by his grandparents, Eddie and Mary Sipila, Sherron Beaton, and a large, extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly. He joins in rest his grandparents Trudy and Henry Knauer, and Archie Beaton, who predeceased him.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all those who have offered kindness and support locally and from afar.
Though Dylan’s life was cut far too short, his spirit, laughter, and the memories he created will echo forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held later in Jasper.
