It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas George Maggs in Edson, Alberta on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the age of 64 years.
Doug was born and raised in Edson, working for the Edson Forestry Service, Department of Highways, Sox’s trucking, Johnson & Herbert Construction, and Anvil Range Mining over the years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, playing hockey, attending Reflections, and was an animal lover; caring for numerous family dogs Casey, Missy, Fifi, Poncho and Jody throughout his life.
He is lovingly remembered by his mother Jean (Maggs) Haney of Edson; sister Audrey of Edmonton; brother Darrell (Sue) of Calgary; and sister Sheila (Rick) of Rosalind; as well as nieces and nephews Stacy, Michael, Taryn, Riley, Jesse, Kara and their families.
Doug was predeceased by his father George Maggs; maternal grandparents Jean & Melville Cornelius; and paternal grandparents Annie & William Maggs.
Doug was a beloved son, brother and uncle and will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on August 26, 2021 at the Glenwood Cemetery in Edson, Alberta with a reception to follow at the Mennonite Church.
