Donna Marilynn (Tiedemann) Helmig

 It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Donna Marilynn Helmig, 80, of Hinton, Alberta, announce her passing with her family at her side, on Sunday April 16, 2023.

Donna was born on May 2, 1942 to Christian and Mary Tiedemann in Holden, Alberta.

After graduating from St. Mary’s High School in Edmonton, Donna went on to graduate from Edmonton General School of Nursing and received the prestigious Award of Pediatrics.

Donna enjoyed her career as a nurse for many years. She then continued to care for others working at Gerard Redmond Community Catholic School, and then on to the Hinton Health Unit. Donna had a heart of gold. Donna met the love of her life Brian Helmig and they were married on August 1, 1970. Together, they had two children, Brent and Deidra. As a family they enjoyed many camping holidays and spending time with their many friends and family. Donna and Brian also loved to travel and made many wonderful memories traveling the world together. Donna wasn’t only a mother of two, she was a mother of a community.

She will be sincerely missed by her husband Brian, son Brent (engaged to Alli), daughter Deidra (married to Dean), and grandchildren Mickinley, Brodie, Amelia, and Iris.  She will also be missed by her surviving siblings Buster and Rodney, her nieces and nephews, and her many friends.

Donna is predeceased by her parents Christian and Mary Tiedemann along with her siblings Ellen, Cecil, Lawrence, Marvin and Anita.

A memorial service will be held for Donna at Our Lady of the Foothills Catholic Church on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 1pm with Deacon Ed Meding presiding.

The family would like to offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to all of the staff at the Hinton Healthcare Centre who gave such amazing care to Donna.

Donna Helmig will be laid to rest at the Hinton cemetery on a later date.
