Don was born the fourth child and third son of Richard Corser (d. 2007) and Dorothy Giebelhaus Corser (d. 2023) of Erith, Alberta. He grew up a free spirit at the family lumber business on the Coal Branch.
Don was always interested more in hands-on experience than school and participated in several ventures in BC and Alberta. His livelong passion was panning for gold in local rivers. Don remained single but he had many lifelong friends and was known for his good humour, kindness and generosity, helping out friends when he could, when they needed help. He was the mysterious “snow shoveller” who often cleared the winter sidewalks of neighbours and strangers overnight. Many of his nieces and nephews remember him as “the fun uncle.”
He is survived by his sister Judy (Powell River, BC) and brothers Clyde (Robin) and Craig (Kelly) of Edson.
Cremation has taken place. Don will be remembered in a memorial to take place in 2025, TBA.
Donations in Don’s memory, if wished, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta.
