It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David Kading, beloved husband to Leanne, devoted father to Olivia (Parker) and Jax, cherished son to Roy and Julie Kading, and loving brother to Michele Kading. David was predeceased by his son David (Little David) Keeping. He will be deeply missed by numerous family members and friends. One of his greatest loves was his dog, Lenny, with whom he shared countless hours of companionship. Lenny will miss his best friend dearly.
David was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, in 1959. His career with the Canadian National Railway (CNR) spanned 37 years, beginning in 1976 in the Carload Centre in Thunder Bay, ON. He later transferred to Winnipeg, MB, where he became a locomotive engineer after completing his ESP training in Gimli. David was renowned for his exceptional skills and dedication to his work, retiring in 2014 in Jasper, AB, after a long and successful career. Operating a train was his passion, and he was proud of the work he did.
Athletics played an important role in David’s life. A gifted athlete, he excelled in numerous sports, from hockey, skiing, golfing, to marksmanship. His passion for golf was so strong that he was a dedicated member of the Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club for over 30 years, often taking his children along to share in his joy of the sport. He had a passion for life and an infectious personality that left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He had a love for adventure, particularly in the form of his scooter and one-person car, which became a signature part of his character.
David was known for his unique communication style, never hesitating to speak his mind with honesty and authenticity. He was a man of few words when necessary, but when he had something to say, he said it plainly and without reservation. His honesty and straightforwardness were hallmarks of his character, and his words were often as bold as his spirit.
David’s family is devastated by his loss, but we find comfort in knowing that wherever he is, he is golfing and reuniting with loved ones who have gone before him.
A Celebration of David’s Life will take place at a later date. His family hopes that all those who knew and loved him will join in honoring his memory.
