At the age of seventy-five, Colleen Sharon Lamoureux (“Grammy”) died in the presence of her husband on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024, at the Edson Healthcare Centre.
Colleen was born in Edson, Alberta, on February 17th, 1949, as the seventh child of George and Evelyn Tomkinson and grew up in Evansburg, Alberta. She married Stephen Lamoureux in 1967 and they moved to Edson in 1971 with their toddler son, Troy. In the next few years, they had two more children, Tracey and Christian. Colleen and Stephen raised their family in Edson and were very involved in the parish life of St. Catherine’s Anglican Church and their community in general.
After seeing her children through school, Colleen volunteered to work in long term care and then worked part time in the same setting. She concluded her career in healthcare working in the surgery sterilization unit at the hospital.
Colleen lived her various vocations as fully as one could: first a child, sister, and auntie in a large family; then a wife, a mother, and parishioner; then as a team member of healthcare providers; as well as a volunteer in an innumerable number of community and social organizations (especially the Pioneer Senior’s Cabin). In particular, Grammy was proud to be the supportive wife of a firefighter for forty-six years. Wherever the Lord placed her, she was a friend to all.
Colleen is survived by her husband, Stephen, her children and their spouses and all of Grammy’s grandchildren: Troy (Daena): Damien, Austin, and Lily; Tracey (Bill): Liam and Grayson; Christian (Teri): Anna, Abigail, Gabriel, Josiah, and Ruth; as well as her brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
"May she rest in peace and rise in glory."
