Clement Joseph Michaud

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Clement Joseph Michaud of Hinton, Alberta.  Clem passed away at the age of 77, on Monday, April 3, 2023, in Hinton Hospital. Clem was born on November 5, 1945, in St. Vincent, Alberta, to Maria and Joseph Michaud.  His loss is felt by his wife, Florjie; his children Rachel (Casey) Kwasny, Dean (Brandy) Michaud, and Valerie Michaud; his grandchildren Chelsea (Russ) Murray, Julia Koel, Matthew Michaud, Chase Michaud, and Zoe Mckinnon.  His loss is also felt by his stepchildren Patrick Lipnica, Raphael Lipnica, and Janssen Lipnica; step grandchildren Skyler Lipnica and Leinrie Lipnica; by his siblings Louise (Rene) Roy, Herve (Annette) Michaud, Jackie (Bill) Willes, and Joseph (Denise) Michaud; sisters-in-law Cecile (Jean) Michaud, Louise (Gerard) Michaud, and Jain Sales. 

Clem was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Maria; his siblings Jean Michaud, Cecile (Ted) Brochu, Blanche (Rock) Piquette, Adelard (Jeannette) Michaud, Marcel Michaud, Raymond Michaud, Gerard Michaud, and Guy Michaud.  He was also predeceased by his grandson, Troy Kwasny.  Clem will also be deeply missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family. 

Clem was a talented carpenter and during his 40 years in the industry, was involved in the construction of many homes and businesses in the Hinton area.  He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and worked closely with his brothers, son, son in law, and many nephews over the years.  Clem loved sports of every kind and was an avid Montreal Canadiens Hockey Fan.  In his younger days he loved to camp, hunt, quad, ski doo, and generally spend time with his large, extended Michaud family. In his middle years, he could often be found watching his grandchildren, acting as an anchor point for their blanket tent in the living room, while he watched his sports on TV. In his later years, he loved spending time in his Filipino Food Store and enjoyed supporting the Hinton and area Filipino community. 

The Family would like to express their sincere thanks to all the wonderful people at Hinton General Hospital Nursing & Support staff, The Hinton Dialysis Unit Team, Dr. Katherine Sorenson, and the folks at Foothills Memorial Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in support of the Canadian Kidney Foundation or the Hinton General Hospital. 

Celebration of Life and Mass will be held on Saturday, May 27th, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Our Lady of Foothills Catholic Church in Hinton, Alberta. 

Internment at Hinton Woodlawn Cemetery immediately following. 

All are welcome to attend the lunch provided at church basement following the Services.
